Over the weekend I went to Colorado Springs, Josh stayed home to study and work. My grandpa retired in the Philippines and now he comes back to the states every two years to visit. He usually stays a week with each of his kids. So I figure I could handle going for a weekend to visit! Mom's boyfriend, Doug, even made the trip out. It was really great to have most of us together in one place (minus my husband). Usually we try to do something "touristy" and go out to dinner as a family. Friday night mom took us to a fabulous hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant. It was so yummy! Doug left Saturday morning, then the rest of us took the Cog train up to Pike's Peak. It was so incredible! The mountains are so beautiful, even at this time of year. Down in the valley it was fairly breezy, but probably around 50 degrees. Well, at the peak it was white out blizzard conditions. What a difference! It was so crazy! It was a neat journey and I enjoyed it. That night we went to Rudy's BBQ, which is a chain from Texas that just so happens to be in Colorado Springs! I love their food so much and was so excited to fill up without having to go all the way to Texas (although I would like to get out there again sometime!!)
I flew home early Sunday morning, getting home about 11 am, where I scared my husband because I didn't warn him. It was cute. He was busy doing dishes and it's not often I can spook him! We spent the day cleaning things up and watching movies.
The tough part about a weekend trip like that, is that so much time is spent travelling and it's tough to relax like a normal weekend. Although, lately our weekends at home aren't all that relaxing due to garden and yard work. Since it rained all weekend, it wouldn't have gotten done anyway. But everything is blooming and looking great!!
Finals are this week and next week. I've been working hard finishing up some last minute papers and assignments and studying like crazy. Somehow both of my final tests are on the same day, so I'm not very happy about that. That means a lot of stressfulness in one day. But at least it'll be over in just one day.
That's about it for today! Thanks for stopping by!
